Umrah Travel from South Africa: Visas, Documents and Packages
1. Do South African passport holders need a visa for Umrah?
Yes. South African passport holders require either a Saudi Umrah visa or an eligible Saudi tourist visa to perform Umrah. Visa eligibility and conditions can change based on current Saudi regulations, traveller profile, and travel dates. Miller's Travel & Tours assists with the visa process and confirms the latest rules before you apply.
2. What is the difference between a Tourist Visa and an Umrah Visa?
An Umrah Visa is for dedicated pilgrimage travel and is usually valid for a shorter, Umrah-focused period, while a Tourist Visa is for broader travel purposes and can offer longer validity and multiple-entry flexibility. Validity periods, conditions, and eligibility can change, so we confirm the latest rules for your passport, itinerary, and dates before you apply.
3. What documents are required for Umrah from South Africa?
Travellers require a valid South African passport, approved visa documentation, confirmed flights, hotel accommodation details, and any additional requirements set by Saudi authorities at the time of travel.
4. Do you offer Packages from Cape Town?
Yes. We offer Umrah packages departing from Cape Town, with selected departures also available from Johannesburg and other South African cities, depending on airline schedules.
5. Are flights, hotels, and transport included in your Packages?
Yes. Our Packages include flights, accommodation, ground transport in Saudi Arabia, and visa assistance. Travel insurance is separate personal cover arranged by each traveller and is not included in Miller's Travel & Tours packages. All inclusions and exclusions are clearly communicated upfront.
6. Do you offer group Packages?
Yes. We cater for individual travellers, families, couples, senior pilgrims, and group Umrah departures, with full end-to-end support throughout the journey.
Special Assistance for Elderly and Wheelchair Travellers
7. Do you assist elderly travellers and wheelchair users?
Yes. We provide guidance and coordination for elderly travellers and passengers requiring wheelchair or assisted services, subject to airline, airport, and Saudi regulations. Miller's Travel & Tours cannot assign a dedicated staff member to personally accompany a wheelchair-dependent traveller for the entire journey. A family member or companion is strongly recommended, and may be required by the airline. Our team remains available to assist with planning and coordination throughout.
8. Do you provide WhatsApp support during the trip?
Yes. We offer responsive WhatsApp support before departure, during the journey, and after return, ensuring peace of mind for all travellers.

Yes. Many of our Al-Aqsa itineraries include travel via Amman, Jordan, with accommodation, ground transport, and guided arrangements included.

Umrah Health, Travel Insurance and Vaccinations
15. Is travel insurance required for Umrah and Al-Aqsa travel?
Travel and medical insurance is strongly recommended and may be required. This cover is separate personal insurance arranged by each traveller and is not included in Miller's Travel & Tours packages. We advise clients on suitable insurance for Saudi Arabia, Palestine, and Jordan.
16. Is medical insurance included with my Tourist or Umrah visa?
Usually basic Saudi medical insurance is linked to the visa, but it is not the same as full travel insurance. Visa-linked cover is typically limited to medical treatment in Saudi Arabia, may include exclusions or claim caps, and may direct treatment to network providers (including public facilities) where demand can be high and waiting times may be lengthy. Travel insurance is separate personal cover arranged by each traveller and is not included in Miller's Travel & Tours packages.
17. What does medical insurance usually cover for Umrah and Al-Aqsa travel?
Coverage depends on your insurer and plan, but commonly includes emergency medical treatment, hospitalisation, evacuation or repatriation, and selected trip interruption benefits. We recommend checking policy terms, exclusions, and claim limits before travel. Travel insurance is separate personal cover arranged by each traveller and is not included in Miller's Travel & Tours packages.
18. Does medical insurance cover countries in transit or only the destination?
Medical cover is not based only on where your visa is issued. The basic insurance linked to a Saudi visa usually applies in Saudi Arabia and can be limited. Transit stops and other countries are covered only if they are listed in your travel insurance policy. This policy is separate personal cover arranged by each traveller and is not included in Miller's Travel & Tours packages.
19. Are vaccinations required for Umrah travel to Saudi Arabia?
Saudi authorities currently require proof of meningococcal (meningitis) vaccination for Umrah and Hajj travellers. Health entry rules can change, so we verify the latest requirements for your route and travel dates before departure. Pilgrims should also consult a healthcare professional for personal medical suitability.
20. Is a yellow fever vaccination required for Umrah?
Yellow fever requirements depend on your departure and transit history, and current Saudi health regulations. Travellers arriving from or transiting through countries with yellow fever risk may need proof of vaccination. We confirm the latest route-specific rules before travel, and pilgrims should consult a healthcare professional.
21. Are any vaccinations required for travel to Jordan and Palestine?
There are no mandatory vaccinations for most travellers to Jordan and Palestine. Routine or recommended vaccinations may apply depending on individual health and travel history.
22. Why choose Miller's Travel & Tours for Umrah and Al-Aqsa travel?
